2/26/21 7:30PM Theatre & Dance Production: Sense and Sensibility
Friday, February 26, 2021
7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Ted Paul Theatre, Earley Center for Performing Arts
The first Mainstage production of the new year, Sense and Sensibility, opens next week at Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre and Dance.
Based on Jane Austen’s novel, this play takes place in England in the early 19th century, but playwright Kate Hammill’s story is a fast-paced take on the classic. “Hamill retells this two-hundred-year-old story with the energy of a car chase scene from an action movie, mixed with the brave theatricality of twenty-first century performance,” says director Vladimir Rovinsky.
Rovinsky joined the faculty in the Department of Theatre and Dance in August from St. Cloud State most recently, but he has worked across the United States as a director, actor and teacher. He has also worked in China, Canada, Puerto Rico and Russia.
Sense & Sensibility runs Feb. 17-20 and 24-27 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 20, 21, 27 & 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ted Paul Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State University, Mankato.
