Our Dance Program is a dynamic and growing field of study that provides students with a rich program of study, five degree options, diverse performance opportunities and off-campus events. Students receive a comprehensive education grounded in a liberal arts education that prepares them for a lifetime in dance such as: teaching, performing, private studio ownership, choreographing, dance therapy, arts administration, dance writing and related fields.
"The relationship you build with the professors in this department is really special...They have given me many life skills that will last with me long after graduation."
"...useful skills I have learned have been time management, learning to keep an open mind, heart, and soul, and that being a good person is very important in this business..."
Our program offers students degree options that are grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Students learn about the depth and breadth of dance as they practice their art form in multiple arenas. The curriculum is designed to balance students’ artistic experiences with practical applications.
Our department presents 6 major theatrical productions during the Mainstage season, 4 Studio Season shows and 2 dance concerts in an academic year. We also feature a professional summer stock series, Highland Summer Theatre, featuring four 4 productions utilizing professional actors and students.
The Department of Theatre and Dance is strongly committed to its students and to its audience. It offers the student an array of theatrical and dance opportunities exploring a wide range of dramatic literature and movement possibilities in three performance venues.
