ENSEMBLES:
Contemporary Vocal Ensembles are designed to develop students’ performance skills and knowledge about singing contemporary styles in a group setting. As the groups prepare for performances throughout the school year, special emphasis is placed on ensemble skills (blend, balance, intonation), style, stage presence, music reading skills, ear training, and an introduction to improvisation. Maverick Vocal Precision and Maverick Fusion are formed each Fall through an audition process.

  • Maverick Vocal Precision is an a Cappella ensemble similar to groups in the movie Pitch Perfect. This group is often featured at external festivals and competitions. Membership requirements include prior contemporary vocal singing experience, strong musicianship skills (i.e., good musical ear and music reading skills), and a commitment to practice/preparation outside of regular class time.Students gain experience singing contemporary styles, microphone technique, choreography, and solo singing. Auditions for Maverick Vocal Precision occur during the first week of classes each Fall.
  • Maverick Fusion is a Pop choir that performs a variety of contemporary repertoire (Pop, Rock, Jazz, etc.). This 16-member ensemble is open to all students with singing experience and a willingness to learn. Students gain experience singing contemporary styles, microphone technique, choreography, and solo singing. Auditions occur during the first week of classes each Fall.
