Graduate Assistantships

Assistantship positions are available each year across campus. We encourage you to seek an assistantship which aligns with your professional goals.

Individuals awarded an assistantship in the Department of Communication Studies will teach up to two sections of the basic hybrid communication course and/or assist with forensic coaching duties in the department. An assistantship includes a stipend and are funded for up to 9 credits of coursework per semester. These positions are competitive and students are encouraged to apply early (by February) to be considered for the coming year.

Communication Studies Andreas Graduate Assistantship

The Department awards one assistantship called the Andreas Graduate Assistantship. This award, funded by a generous endowment from the Andreas family, was created to recognize graduate students who are incorporating aspects of performance into their graduate program.

Application Process

To be considered for an assistantship, you must be admitted into one of the Communication Studies' Graduate Programs or have an educational background in Communication Studies. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Deepa Oommen.

Applicants who wish to be considered for Graduate Assistantships for the following academic year should complete their application for admission by February 15th.
